Joel Vaughn may have spent the last twelve years as a worship leader in his Texas church, but his new album, Surrender, takes his musical talents to another level. The first two songs, “As You Are” and “One In a Million”, talk about how important you are to Him, imperfections and all, and how unique we are in our own way.  The midpoint is “If I Trust In You”, which slows it down a bit but with a great feel musically, powerfully moving lyrics and strong falsetto vocals in the chorus.

Surrender ends on a high note with the last two songs, “Every Alley of My Heart” and “All Things New”, as each are dowsed with head-bopping beats, something you would hear on the radio or in a club, but with inspiring words.

Overall the album is upbeat with R&B-style vocals, lyrics as poignant and true as they can be, and catchy pop beats to keep the listener completely tuned and is an album that is encouraging with a good fun pop sound and clean versatile vocals.
