Justin Mitchell is not your typical Christian hip-hop artist. His music is deeply rooted in the tension of feeling misunderstood—a theme that echoes through his lyrics with raw honesty and emotional depth. Sonically, he blends East Coast boom-bap with trap-infused gospel and cinematic textures, creating a sound as layered as his message. Formerly known as Primisis, Justin brings over a decade of experience as a performer, indie tour artist, and conference speaker—including performances at SXSW and opening slots for KB, Derek Minor, and Social Club Misfits.

His recent main stage performance at Flavor Fest 2025 showcased his ability to command large audiences while delivering a message that resonates with authenticity and power.
“I’m not chasing the big stages or trying to “make it” like I used to,” Mitchell shared. “I understand I’m a beloved son first, and everything I do flows from that identity first. My heart is simply fixed on if to given the opportunity to be in front of people to share my heart through my art, then it is to let them experience the goodness of Jesus through the music. Whether it’s 70 people under a pavilion or at community outreach event or 2,000+ at a conference, if God opens the door, my heart’s posture will remain the same and I’m there.”
