Lately, I’ve found myself discovering incredible new music in some unexpected places—especially thanks to Spotify’s recommendations and their DJ X feature. It’s introduced me to some new favorite artists, and one that quickly caught my ear was Bodie. His genre-blending sound—equal parts pop, rock, and worship—is refreshing, fun, and surprisingly deep. One track in particular stood out: “Whisper And The Wind.” The original version was beautiful, but the remix featuring Gracie Binion took it to a whole new level. So, when I saw Bodie was bringing his Murder My Ego Tour to Tampa, I knew I had to be there to cover it.

First off, massive thanks to Bodie’s management for making this coverage possible and helping coordinate everything for a smooth experience. The show was hosted in Ybor City, one of Tampa’s most historic districts, at a venue called Crowbar. It’s an intimate space with a raw, real vibe—and that fit the mission of this tour perfectly. Bodie mentioned during the show that he intentionally booked bars over churches, aiming to bring the Gospel into spaces where non-believers might show up for a concert and leave having encountered something more. And let me tell you—he accomplished exactly that.

Before the show started, I had the chance to chat briefly with Bodie. That interview will be up soon on Kingdom Builder, but it was great to connect and even bring things full circle with a bit of a throwback in his artist days before The Voice.

Gracie Binion kicked things off at 8 PM sharp with a 30-minute set that immediately turned heads. I wasn’t deeply familiar with her solo catalog, but I’ll be diving in now. Her sound reminded me a bit of The Cranberries with a modern edge, and her vocals were absolutely stunning—strong, expressive, and full of passion. She brought a powerful presence to the stage and clearly had fans in the crowd singing along. She jokingly asked how many people just discovered her music because of her being on tour with Bodie—and it was a smaller group, which shows that she’s built a fanbase in her own right. At only 24, Gracie’s future is bright.

About ten minutes later, Bodie took the stage—and what followed was over an hour of energy, vulnerability, fun, and worship. He ran through many of his well-known tracks like “Say So,” “God Did,” “Know,” and “Liar Liar.” His stage presence was captivating, and he kept the audience laughing and thinking throughout the night. One unexpected highlight came when a fan dared him to taste some of the world’s hottest hot sauce on stage. Against better judgment (and maybe better vocal health), he took a couple teaspoons! The aftermath—sweating, coughing, and laughing—added some fun chaos to an otherwise deeply spiritual evening.

Bodie also spoke from the heart about his wife and kids and what it means to lead them in faith. That authenticity, especially coming from a fellow dad, resonated with me. He also spoke about his partnership with World Vision, encouraging the crowd to consider sponsoring a child.

Now for the most memorable stretch of the night: Bodie started playing a soft intro on guitar, and out came Gracie again. Together, they led the room in a stunning 10-15 minute worship moment featuring his version of “Gratitude.” It was breathtaking. The lighting, the harmonies, the spiritual atmosphere—God was absolutely present. You could feel it. I’ve attended a lot of concerts and worship nights, but this moment ranks up there with the best.

And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, they followed it up with the remix version of “Whisper And The Wind”—yes, the one I had been hoping for! Gracie sang her part live with Bodie, and it was absolutely unforgettable.

He wrapped up the night with the fan-favorite “RIP,” and afterward, both artists stuck around to talk with fans, take photos, and sign merch. I had the chance to share the story of @justbekindbraceletswithella with both of them—Ella’s story will be featured in an upcoming Mental Health Awareness Month series episode of Kingdom Builder—and even gifted Bodie one of her kindness bracelets.

All in all, the Murder My Ego Tour stop in Tampa was more than just a concert. It was a reminder that great music and deep faith aren’t mutually exclusive. Bodie and Gracie brought passion, fun, and praise to an intimate bar in Tampa, and they made it feel like holy ground. I can’t wait to share more photos, videos, and our exclusive content soon.

Until next time—keep showing up, keep worshiping, and keep building the Kingdom.
