At Kingdom Builder, we’ve always believed in the power of music, faith, and testimony to bring healing, encouragement, and connection. This May, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re launching a special series of interviews featuring new faces and perhaps some familiar friends, all sharing their personal journeys through mental health struggles—and how God and Christian music have played a vital role in their healing.
This initiative isn’t just about awareness—it’s about hope. These interviews aim to peel back the curtain on the real, raw moments of struggle and resilience. We want to shine a light on how worship, community, and Christ-centered truth have helped artists, young people, and families face anxiety, depression, loneliness, trauma, and more.
You’ll hear from individuals at all stages of life as we also hope to reconnect with artists and creatives we’ve interviewed before—some of whom are opening up like never before about their mental health journeys and the songs that carried them through.
This is not just another content series. It’s a reminder that you are not alone.
Faith Meets Mental Health
Mental health challenges do not discriminate. They affect the young and old, pastors and musicians, kids in youth group, and parents holding it all together. Yet too often, these battles are fought in silence—especially within the church.
We believe that faith and mental health are not enemies. In fact, the Bible is full of voices crying out, overwhelmed, anxious, or afraid—and still clinging to God in the storm.
David writes in Psalm 34:18,
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Jesus Himself says in Matthew 11:28,
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
These aren’t just words to hang on your wall. They’re promises to hold onto.
Music That Ministers
One theme you’ll notice in every story we share is the power of Christian music to minister deeply to the soul. Whether it’s through the honest lyrics of a worship anthem or the encouragement of a late-night concert moment, music becomes more than sound—it becomes a lifeline.
We’ll be highlighting songs and artists throughout the month that have been used by God to speak into people’s darkest hours. And who knows—maybe one of those songs will be exactly what you or a loved one needs to hear right now.
You Are Not Alone
If you or someone you know is struggling, please hear this:
There is hope. There is help. There is healing.
Don’t be afraid to reach out—to a pastor, a friend, a counselor, or a mental health professional. God can work through all of these avenues. And while this series isn’t a substitute for therapy or medical care, it can be a companion to your journey—a reminder that others have walked this path and come out the other side, not perfect, but stronger, loved, and never forsaken.
