NEWSBOYS GOD’S NOT DEAD IS ROARING LIKE A LION INTO DOUBLE PLATINUM STATUS
The song that inspired a critically acclaimed film series and sparked a movement reaches milestone
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 21, 2021) – Newsboys, one of the leading acts in Contemporary Christian music, celebrates the double platinum certification of God’s Not Dead on the eve of their October 1st release of STAND. The song, off the album of the same name, sparked a movement with a book and a critically acclaimed film series.
“God’s Not Dead,” has had a massive impact and is still on top of the streaming and recurrent airplay charts today. “It wasn’t long after we released the song God‘s Not Dead that I saw a massive groundswell of believers rallying behind its message, much like when DC Talk released Jesus Freak” said Michael Tait, lead singer. “It’s become our battle cry for today’s generation!”
At the album’s core, the Daniel Bashta penned hit worship song “God’s Not Dead (Like A Lion)” sings of victory over a century’s worth of philosophers who thought otherwise.
Newsboys are one of the biggest bands in Christian music history, having sold more than 10 million units across 23 recordings and garnering boundless accolades, including 1 RIAA® Platinum certification and 8 Gold certifications, 33 #1 radio hits, four GRAMMY® nominations, two American Music Award nominations and multiple Dove Awards.
With signature songs like “We Believe,” “Born Again” and the unstoppable mega hit “God’s Not Dead”—which birthed a film franchise of the same name—Newsboys have continued to collect career-defining accolades at full speed ahead. For over three decades, the band has toured extensively throughout the world to present their unparalleled high-energy shows, from their formation in Australia to their current residence in the United States, and everywhere between.
This year, members Michael Tait, Duncan Phillips, Jeff Frankenstein and Jody Davis return to the marketplace with “Magnetic,” an up-tempo pop song about the consistent love of God.
