CHRIS RENZEMA ANNOUNCES “HOPE OR NOSTALGIA” FALL TOUR
Tickets On Sale Now For 29-City, Major Market Tour
Sold Out Concerts Cancelled In 2020 Rebooking Into Larger Venues
Shifting seamlessly from indie rock to folk worship to Americana, acclaimed singer / songwriter Chris Renzema shares songs that cut to the bone, singing about hope and echoing the universality of both pain and praise. Taking that shared experience in person to fans, Renzema announces that tickets are now on sale in select cities for his 29-city “Hope or Nostalgia” tour launching into major markets across the country this fall.
On the road for the first time since his 2020 tour into well-known clubs across the country was virtually sold out before being cancelled due to the pandemic, Renzema is now rebooked into many of those same markets with some of the locations changing to larger venues to accommodate demand for tickets. Rebooked cities include Cleveland, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Cincinnati and Nashville. The tour also travels to New York City, Houston, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Tampa and more. (See full tour itinerary below.)
“I’m so excited to be back on the road after over a year and a half – it’s a really emotional thing. I can’t believe it’s finally happening,” says Renzema. “This year has been a journey, and music has been the constant. I can’t wait to share these songs and hear everyone blasting my ears out!”
Set to introduce his acclaimed new music along with fan favorites in front of live audiences, Renzema’s “Hope or Nostalgia” tour will support his widely acclaimed sophomore LP and Centricity Music debut Let The Ground Rest that has received well over 90 million streams since its April 24, 2020 release. The heart behind the LP is the idea that growth comes from periods of rest, of barrenness.
“It’s really easy to think that God is in the growth, but that He’s not in the empty field. It’s an unfortunate thing that we tie together the barren field as somehow a sign of a lack of favor or of God’s presence, but things need to rest in order to grow,” shares Renzema. “You can be upset that your plans got destroyed or you can find a new way forward.”
Along with the LP, Renzema released a companion Let The Ground Rest – B-Sides EP earlier this year that was produced by five-time GRAMMY-nominated Paul Moak. The five-song, live studio recording features “Tear My House Down,” the Air1 Radio Network-featured “Springtime,” and the American Songwriter–featured single “Mercy.” The EP’s songs were also captured on video for The Smoakstack Sessions video documentary.
“A lot of what I wrote for the last project has taken on new meaning in the pandemic,” says Renzema, “and singing about waiting on a season to change or sitting it out through a hard time means a lot more to me now that it did then.”
With more than 36 million audio streams of his first album, I’ll Be The Branches, over one million Spotify track saves over the last 12 months, Pandora naming him a 2020 “Artist to Watch,” and a 2020 GMA Dove Award nomination for “New Artist of the Year,” Renzema’s groundswell continues to organically build. His most recent single, “Caught In The Reeds (Moses),” debuted on Good Friday.
