For twenty years, the Passion conferences, founded by Louie Giglio of Passion City Church based in Atlanta, Georgia, has drawn thousands upon thousands of college age young adults to start their new year surrounded by the presence of God as they praise His Name in worship together. In addition to the musical performances & inspirational messages given from guest speakers, each year Passion enables attendees to have the opportunity to make a difference in the world around them through various organizations such as Compassion International, the END IT Movement, World Vision USA and many others. The 2017 companion album, Worthy Of Your Name, was recorded live throughout this year’s event and features artists such as Kristian Stanfill, Crowder and Matt Redman.
“Glorious Day”, featuring Kristian Stanfill, opens the album with a song of the redemption that takes place in someone’s life when they listen to God’s call and accept Him as their Savior.
“Build My Life”, featuring Brett Younker, finds someone longing for Jesus to be the center of their life as they place their trust in Him, believing that His love is steadfast and a solid foundation to stand upon.
“Heart Abandoned”, featuring Kristian Stanfill, tells of desiring God above all else as we strive to be fully surrendered to Him. The song also recognizes that though our human ways lead us astray, God will never stop calling us back to Him.
“Forgiven”, featuring Crowder, reminds listeners that no matter what we have done or how much we think we’ve messed our lives up, God’s amazing grace sets us free and we have been forgiven through Jesus.
“This We Know”, featuring Kristian Stanfill, is a declaration of trust that our Lord is faithful to fulfill His promises and will forever be our hope, our peace & our victory.
“God Of Calvary”, featuring Chris Tomlin, acknowledges the tremendous sacrifice of Jesus’ death on the cross and the redeeming power of His resurrection as He conquered death. The lyrics bring to mind the words of Isaiah 53:5 – “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
As a whole, Worthy Of Your Name is a solid worship album that celebrates freedom in Christ and captures the faith-filled atmosphere of the live Passion conference while turning listeners hearts to God.
