October 11, 2022 (Winter Springs, FL) – The high flying, ground shaking world of professional wrestling has long been an exciting staple in American sports.  While its heyday may have been considered the late 1980’s and early 1990’s by some, the wild world of men (and women) suplexing and dropping elbows off the corner ropes continues to be just a relative today as its ever been.  For wrestling legends like Chris “The Masked Saint” Whaley and Jimmy “The Golden Boy” McDowell, the memories of the glory days are still fresh in mind as if they were yesterday.  So, when the opportunity came for Whaley to come out of retirement for a match, he jumped at the opportunity. The event: WrestleRama. The pair will match up against WWE/CWF’s Prince Anaka and “Insane” John Strange!

For Whaley, this serves as an exciting opportunity since retiring from the sport in 1988, to come back out and prove he “still has it” for one last match.  “It was like retirement from wrestling snuck up on me” says the 68-year-old Whaley. “It’s so great to get an opportunity to do something again I love to do.”  Whaley, current serves as the Legacy Adult Pastor at First Baptist Orlando, has also had his life journey chronicled in the book, The Masked Saint as well as the 2016 film (see trailer at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRUclOVZsfg) of the same name starring Brett Granstaff and the late WWE legend “Rowdy” Roddy Piper (in his last film role). Some of Whaley’s previous opponents includes legends like The Undertaker, Ultimate Warrior, Bruiser Brody, The Freebirds and many more.

McDowell, is a dentist by trade during the day, and a wrestler by night. Whaley and McDowell have long been friends outside of the ring too. Jimmy happily says “I am so excited for Chris’ return to the ring and am just happy just to be included.” McDowell himself is a legend in his own right, as an AIWF (American Independent Wrestling Federation) World Champion and has battled other legends in the wrestling world such as Buff Bagwell, The Barbarian, The Warlord and many more.  As a dentist he says “A beautiful smile is always in style…. So I fix teeth by day and knock em’ out at night”

The match not only offers fans a chance for a front-row seat for an incredible one-night only event under the stars in beautiful Winter Springs, FL, but all proceeds go to a great ministry called Christmas Dreams.  Christmas Dreams provides Christmas to kids with life-threatening illnesses.  “With God in your corner, you’ll never have to tap out 1, 2, 3!” McDowell says. “He will always provide a way to victory!”
