In a time where division runs deep in our country, especially where politics are concerned, the message of God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust offers hope as many are navigating through the murky waters of political debates, trying to make the best choice for your beliefs & engaging with those around us who disagree.
The fifth film in this fan-favorite series of the God’s Not Dead franchise once again follows the story of David A.R. White’s character Reverend David Hill – or Pastor Dave as he’s known by many – as he steps out of his comfort zone and into the political arena running for congress going head to head with opponents who have much more experience – and very different morals. Through his time on the campaign trail, Pastor Dave is determined to keep faith in the forefront, while his campaign manager tries to talk him into focusing more on the issues at hand. We see him get challenged on all sides, yet remain firm in his stance. As the film continues, we see other characters lives intertwine as their backstories unfold. At one point, Pastor Dave is faced with the choice to step down from his campaign or continue moving forward and trust God with the outcome.
With its release in the heat of a presidential election year, the events depicted in God’s Not Dead: In Got We Trust serve to remind viewers that no matter who is elected, no human is perfect. The only guarantee we have is that our Creator is the One worthy of our trust as we hold to the hope that His plan is greater than those of mortals.
