I just finished watching The Promised Land, and I absolutely loved it! The premise, which the creators pitch as “Michael Scott meets Moses,” is as brilliant as it sounds and delivers a series that is both deeply reverent and wildly funny.
I found myself laughing out loud throughout the series. The decision to frame the Israelites’ 40-year journey as a chaotic workplace startup is a stroke of comedic genius. The show hilariously reimagines biblical events as everyday office squabbles and logistical nightmares.
The cast is absolutely fantastic and a huge reason the humor lands so perfectly. The series is anchored by a brilliant performance from Wasim No’Mani as a well-meaning but constantly overwhelmed Moses. Fans of the massively popular series The Chosen will be thrilled to see several familiar faces, including No’Mani, Shereen Kern (Miriam), and Majed Sayess (Aaron), who bring an incredible chemistry and proven comedic timing from their previous work together.
What truly sets this show apart is its incredible ability to find this humor while remaining true to its source material. Growing up learning of the original story in church, I was so impressed by how they managed to put a fresh, comedic spin on the Book of Exodus without losing the heart of its serious and powerful message. It’s a perfect blend of satire and sincerity, having a little fun telling a story about faith, doubt, and leadership.
If you’re looking for a fresh, funny, and surprisingly poignant take on a timeless story, you have to watch The Promised Land. It’s a fantastic series that I can’t recommend enough!
Season 1 will be available to watch exclusively on YouTube starting October 1st. Check it out here.
