High Road ‘Straight from the Heart’

The group High Road will be releasing a new album, Straight from the Heart, through the label New Day Records, on May 31, 2024. With a blend of folk, gospel, bluegrass, and Contemporary Christian sounds, one thing is for sure – every single song will direct the attention of your heart and mind to Jesus, our role here on earth, and eternity.

WHEN I LIFT MY HEAD is a fast moving song, with an amazing blend of voices. It encourages us with the reminder that “When I lift my head, He lifts up my heart, and my troubles just all roll away…”

THAT’S WHAT LOVE IS reminds me of Colossians 3 and how “whatever we do, we do it as unto the Lord and not to man.” There are ways- all around us- to serve, to pray, to help, to teach, to nurture, to go the extra mile, and to touch lives every day. We do so with the knowledge that Love- Jesus- first did so for us. “given more than what you get- that’s what love is.”

THROUGH YOU is The GREAT COMMISSION in song, I would say. The quote, “See a need; Fill a need”- from a children’s animated movie – feels like the intention of this song. There are so many heartbroken, lonely, confused, lost, needing people around us, and we can “lead them home.” The chorus echoes like a call to action, and it blessed my heart with renewed purpose. “Through you His hands are reaching out to those in need. Through you His fingerprints are on each word and deed. No need to wonder what He’s calling you to do, cuz the road for them that leads to Him, runs through you.” We are the hands, feet, voice, and love of Jesus to the world around us. Even the simplest things can be a great blessing; Even the smallest seed planted can bring forth great fruit. We need to be faithful with whatever we have before us: plant the seeds, water seeds, and surrender the growth to Jesus.

KEEPS YOUR LAMPS is a perspective of perseverance and endurance in the faith. It spurs us on to “see what the Lord has done”, but it also prods us to keep going forward, to the end! “Keep your lamps trim and burning”, servants of the Most High!
