Singer-songwriter Janet Blair offers a collection of piano driven Christian Indie-pop with her debut album, Songs for the Waiting.
“Jesusland” seems to ask the question of ‘What Would Jesus Do?’ in a way that challenges listeners to live a life that reflects the love of Christ in all we do & say to those around us regardless of society status.
“Divided” points out how the devil’s deception can tempt & trick us into sin causing a moral tug-of-war between the Light & darkness inside of us.
“For Shania (I Will Wait)” portrays the pain & doubts that arise when a seemingly senseless tragedy occurs. A prayer begging for answers turns to realization that God is still there in the darkest hours.
In my opinion, the stand-out track on this album is “Remember Hope” as it reminds us that our feelings of grief & even anger are valid when faced with what we see as an insurmountable obstacle, but we must fight to not be consumed by it as we remember that we can still find peace, hope & comfort in the promises of our Lord. He will not abandon us.
The story-telling lyrics and unique musical arrangements found on Songs for the Waiting draw inspiration from day to day life as Janet Blair sings of finding God’s peace in the midst of busyness & through the depths of despair.
