Country artist Josh Turner has never been afraid to share his faith through his music and in every other aspect of his career. From the release of his first hit single, “Long Black Train”, to fan-favorites “Me & God”, “The Way He Was Raised”, “The Answer” and more, Josh’s musical path has brought him to the release of his first full-length gospel album, I Serve A Savior. It is the kind of project that I know many listeners have been anxiously waiting for Josh to record and it certainly does not disappoint!

The album opens with the Hank Williams penned “I Saw The Light (feat. Sonya Isaacs)”. The words flow over a rolling banjo lending to the country/bluegrass feel of the song as the words tell a life-changing story of redemption and salvation in Christ.

“Pray My Way out of Trouble (feat. Bobby Osborne)” reminds us that we have a Savior waiting to embrace and guide us through the miry mess that the world can present. When we can’t see a way out on our own, we can call upon the Lord to give us the clarity and strength we need to persevere.

Classic hymns “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” & “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” follow featuring Josh’s signature vocals that prove he was made to sing these timeless songs.

Title track “I Serve A Savior” recognizes the fact that a life dedicated to serving Jesus and following His ways is far better than chasing after the shiny yet elusive things this world has to offer that inevitably lead to pain & despair. When we choose to follow in the steps of our Savior and point others to Him along the way, we strive towards an eternal home that will be far greater than we can fathom.

“The River (Of Happiness) [feat. The Turner Family] [Live From Gaither Studios]” is a special selection that was written by Josh’s wife Jennifer and their oldest son, Hampton. Sung by Jennifer and their sons, the song celebrates the glorious hope of Heaven and a place where sadness will no longer exist.

“Amazing Grace” is given a refreshing country groove that stands apart from other renditions I’ve heard of the classic tune over the years.

The final three songs close with live performances of “Long Black Train” and “Me and God” as well as an acapella version of the Doxology.

I Serve A Savior is an album that will delight both longtime Josh Turner fans and those who come across this collection because they love listening to the hymns so many of us grew up singing in church or hearing our parents & grandparents sing. The messages carried throughout will lift your spirit and brighten your day as you reflect on the love, grace and kindness of Jesus.
