🎧 Mike’s Weekly Fresh 4 – May 3, 2025

Each week, I spotlight four standout Christian songs that caught my attention—whether for their message, production, vocals, or heart. It’s never an easy list to make with so much good music out there, but these four rose to the top for me this week. Let’s dive in!

🎶 Josh Bissell & Tyler Philip Ratcliffe – “I’ll Come Home”

Josh Bissell continues his trend of revisiting his songs with fresh production and new features. This reimagined version of “I’ll Come Home” features a poignant verse from Tyler Philip Ratcliffe and a distinct country influence that feels true to Josh’s Texas roots. The line “I have to believe you’ll be waiting there for me” brings to mind the Prodigal Son and the unrelenting love of the Father—no matter what we’ve done, He still celebrates our return. A beautiful song of redemption and grace that resonates deep.

🎶 Justin Mitchell & Q-Flo – “Evil Dead”

If you’ve followed my journey for any length of time, you know my love for Christian hip hop runs deep—and “Evil Dead” is a standout. Justin Mitchell (fka Primisis) and Q-Flo bring a head-bobbing track full of purpose, lyrical depth, and strong production from OB, a name respected in CHH circles. From the line “Talkin’ about the blood flow, it’s crimson red. Now the whole world gotta know, that evil’s dead,” this song boldly proclaims the power of the cross and Christ’s victory over sin. If you’re new to Christian hip hop, this is a great entry point.

🎶 Saphire – “The Light”

This is hands down my top pick of the week. There’s so much I could say about “The Light”—and in fact, I already did in my full review and conversation with Saphire (link below). Her honesty about mental health, paired with the strength of this track’s production and message, makes this one incredibly impactful. Don’t just take my word for it—check out the interview and hear for yourself how this song was birthed from a journey of faith, healing, and vulnerability.

🎶 Daniel Spriggs – “Show Me How To Live”

Daniel’s style has quickly become one I’m excited to hear more from. Ever since I heard “HEART2HEART” and his collaboration with Grace Graber on “My Favorite Part,” I’ve been drawn to his unique blend of pop-punk, Fall Out Boy, and Brendon Urie-style vocals. “Show Me How To Live” stands out with its lyrical vulnerability: “I need what’s written in red. You take my hand and show me how to live.” It’s music that challenges the lies of the world and reminds us of the truth of Jesus. The standout bridge says it all: “I don’t want to gain the whole world and lose my soul.” Absolutely one of my favorites.

This list, of course, is far from exhaustive—but that’s why I had to limit this feature to just four songs per week. These are my personal, subjective picks that I believe are worth your time, and I always welcome suggestions and recommendations!
