The Oak Ridge Boys ’17th Avenue Revival’

The Oak Ridge Boys have long been one of the most celebrated vocal groups in music with a career that spans much of the past four decades and still going strong today. Having found success in both Gospel and country music, their latest release, 17^th Avenue Revival, reaches back to the band’s deep Gospel roots.

“Brand New Star” opens the album with a comforting reminder that when we lose a loved one who believed in Christ as their Savior, we can know they are with Him and in a better place.

“There Will Be Light” inspires hope that through the darkest times in our lives, if we trust in the Lord and hold fast to His promises, He will be faithful to carry us through.

A heartfelt rendition of the classic hymn “I’d Rather Have Jesus” is a welcome addition to the album as it speaks of choosing Jesus over the riches or anything else this world may have to offer us.

“Walk in Jerusalem” stands out with classic bass vocals taking the lead while the song describes being prepared for Heaven and what it may be like to live there one day.

“Where He Leads Me I Will Follow” tells of listening to God’s call upon your life and trusting His lead wherever it may take you; whether He uses you in your current situation or takes you into the great unknown.

The toe-tapping spiritual “Let It Shine on Me” closes the collection.

What sets 17^th Avenue Revival apart from many other albums out currently is the organic, homespun sound that allows The Oak Ridge Boys’ signature vocals to shine as they share songs to inspire the faith of listeners. If you’re a longtime fan of the Oaks or traditional Gospel and country music in general, you are sure to find a song or two that speak to your heart.
