From Chain Breakers to Consuming Fires: Celebrating 30 Years of Third Day with Special Guest Zach Williams
Written by: Jay Heilman (3/24/2026)
Venue: Kia Center, Orlando, FL
Date: March 22, 2026
There are moments in live music that feel less like a concert and more like a homecoming. On March 22nd, the Kia Center in Orlando was transformed into a sanctuary of high-octane rock and deep-seated worship as Third Day roared back onto the stage for their 30th Anniversary Tour.
For many of us, this wasn’t just another show. Having missed the 2018 “Farewell Tour” due to the lack of Florida dates, the anticipation for this reunion was at a fever pitch. Coincidentally, it had been almost exactly 11 years to the day since the band last played Orlando (March 27, 2015), the last time I had personally seen the band play live. To see the original lineup—Mac, Mark, Tai, and David—walking out together felt like a gift for the fans who have followed them for decades.
The Opening Spark: Zach Williams

The night ignited with Zach Williams, who proved once again why he is a powerhouse in the industry. Zach doesn’t just perform; he testifies. His 40-minute set was a masterclass in grit and grace, moving from the foot-stomping energy of “Old Church Choir” and “Chain Breaker” to the soul-stirring depths of “Fear Is A Liar.” He also gave fans a taste of the future with tracks from his recent record Jesus Saves, including the infectious “Friends in High Places” and the poignant “Wait For Me.” Meeting Zach during the intermission was a highlight—his 6’6” stature is only matched by the size of his heart. Seeing his genuine kindness toward my daughter Kara (attending her very first Zach Williams show!) reminded me why his music resonates so deeply.
The Main Event: A Two-Hour Epic

After a brief but powerful message from World Vision’s (and former 33Miles frontman) Jason Barton, the lights dimmed, and the scale of this production became clear. Having seen Third Day over a dozen times, I can say without hesitation: this was the largest and most ambitious show of their career. The production is massive, but the stamina is even more impressive. From the moment they tore into the opening chords of “Soul on Fire” to the final notes of the night, the band played for a staggering two hours. Backed by long-time keys player Scotty Wilbanks and the incredible Trevor Morgan on second guitar, the band played and sounded so close-knit throughout the night, it’s as if had they never left the stage.
A Journey Through the Catalog
What makes this tour a “can’t-miss” is the setlist. They promised the hits, and they delivered in spades, playing at least one song from every single album in their catalog. For long-time fans, it was a fantastic trip down memory lane:
-
The Anthems: Hearing “King of Glory” and “Creed” live again felt like reuniting with old friends.
-
The Deep Cuts: Hearing tracks I hadn’t experienced live in nearly 20 years brought a literal chill to the room.
-
The Holy Grail: The transition into “Consuming Fire” sent the arena into a frenzy after Mac’s iconic “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6” count-off.
-
The Finale: After a relentless two-hour marathon, they closed the encore with a breathtaking performance of “Agnus Dei”, leaving the audience in a state of pure worship.
Watching my wife Shannon experience them live for the first time—seeing that “Third Day magic” click for a new viewer—was a reminder that this music is timeless. Whether you’ve seen them fifty times or this is your first opportunity, the 30th Anniversary Tour is a celebration of faith, rock ‘n’ roll, and the enduring power of the Gospel.
Experience the Tour Yourself
If this tour is heading your way, drop everything and go! It is a phenomenal night of worship and a rare chance to see one of the most influential bands in Christian music history at the peak of their powers.
