Young, Dove Award New Artist of the Year nominee Hollyn has released her first full length album, One-Way Conversations, which follows in the vein of her 2015 debut EP. Hollyn’s unique voice is paired with a contemporary, electronic musical sound on these eleven short tracks, several of which feature well-known artists. The album starts of with the upbeat “Can’t Live Without”, with lyrics talking about a conversation with God. The second song, “Love With Your Life”, is kind of a funk-pop tune, and might be one of the highlights of the album.
“Obvious?” and “All My Love” revert back to the catchy electronic style of the album. The next song, “In Awe”, slows it down with a heartfelt worship feel about the greatness of God’s love. “Party in the Hills” is a fun track featuring rap by Andy Mineo and Steven Malcolm. “Lovely” comes next with a typical pop song hitting on the subject of how the world views beauty versus how God views it. Next is “Go”, featuring TobyMac and Diverse City, and is my head-bopping favorite on the album.
Hollyn slows it back down again with “Waiting For” and a slow but smooth track called “Girl”, featuring Tree Giants. Our musical journey ends with an EDM bonus Capital Kings Remix track titled “Love With Your Life”.
The album, while short, isn’t too bad for the EDM fans, and may be worth the listen if you are looking for a decent electronic pop album.
