Crowder stands apart from typical Christian music in many ways. When you hear a Crowder song, you know exactly who it is. His artistry and vivid story-telling carries over with the new release, I Know A Ghost taking listeners on an adventurous musical journey.
“I Know a Ghost” sets the tone for the album, much like the opening of a film, as it tells of being haunted by past sins & indiscretions but recognizing the power of Christ’s death & resurrection that will free you from those chains.
The down-home feel of “Wildfire”, complete with a chorus of crickets, frogs & other creatures interspersed throughout the track, celebrates revival of the spirit that comes over you when you accept Jesus into your heart.
“Crushing Snakes (feat. Taya)” brings to mind images of warriors ready for battle as we face the world with God on our side knowing He has the ultimate victory in the end.
“Let It Rain (Is There Anybody)”, featuring Mandisa, highlights the importance of keeping the Lord at the center of everything in your life as you live each day so you will have the spiritual fortitude to combat the trials that arise.
“Child of God”, “Happy Day”, “Night Like This” & “La Luz (feat. Social Club Misfits)” will each lift your spirit with their upbeat, joyful tones.
“The Sinner’s Cure” prompts your heart to ponder the big questions in life that we all can struggle with at times as you come to God in prayer.
“Hundred Miles” is a song of praise giving thanks for God’s merciful love that will never fail us.
“Ghost” brings the album to a close with the hope and promise that we as believers are able to hold onto in Christ.
It’s hard to capture the feel of this album with a few words as it is something that should be listened to to fully appreciate the depth & nuances found throughout. Crowder’s unique style and eclectic approach to the music he records always makes for an entertaining experience. However, beyond the driving rhythm’s, foot stomping beats and diverse blend of genres ranging from gospel, to rock, to country to rap and everything in between, when you really listen to the words being sung, you’ll find honest, relatable lyrics that are often poetic in nature. I Know A Ghost offers all of this and more as it takes you from celebrating the joys of life to deeply reflective moments that urge you to pause and focus on your relationship with your Savior and time spent with Him.
