Worship session on the big screen? A gathering of dozens of top worship pastors/artists of multiple generations from across the globe? If you love God, worshipping God through music, and modern Christian worship music, House of Worship is a unique film that gives you the opportunity to worship with your favorite artists and songs and feel like you are right there with them. There are too many artists to name them all, but those who have been into the Christian music scene for a long time will be pleased to see some of their favorites like Darlene Zschech, Paul Baloche, Cece Winens and Micheal W. Smith. Those like me, who are younger or who came to Christianity later in life and fell in love with today’s modern Christian worship music, will be excited to see Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, and Chris Brown.
With all these creative and talented artists on the roster, you can assume that the music is amazing. The focus was songs from the modern past, like “Shout to the Lord” by Darlene Zschech, “Heart of Worship” by Matt Redman, and “Breathe” by Marie Barnett, all originally published in the 90’s. This ensemble of musicians and singers brought these songs forward in time again with more modern musical sounds, making them enjoyable to hear for new Christian’s who may not have grown up with early modern worship.
The most amazing thing about Heart of Worship, however, is not the cast of characters or the amazing music. It’s the backstory of how this video and worship session came together and how it played out, the story you don’t know when going to watch or listening to the stream of the songs (available on Spotify and other platforms). Darlene Zschech and Micheal W. Smith had the original idea and invited these influential worship pastors to get together to worship, not truly knowing how it would come together or turn out.
Even more amazing is the lack of rehearsal: the artists showed up that day to produce spontaneous worship with minimal preparation beforehand. Any musician and producer of any type of musical production knows the hours of rehearsal any band would put in to make publish-worthy music. How did they do it? Putting aside the fact that these are songs these worship pastors have probably performed dozens of times with their churches over the years, the glue that put it all together was their passion and love for God. When God is the center, He makes everything work and come together for His purpose, and the result is an amazing worship experience you need to see.
You can hear more of the backstory in the Kingdom Builder Podcast with Darlene Zschech and Paul Baloche below:
