I believe Josh Wilson is one of those great artists that has been out for years, but still not a lot of people know about him. I’ve never seen Josh live in concert, but I have met him before at the 2015 K-Love Fan Awards in the lobby of the Opryland Hotel. When I walked up to him and asked for a picture, something was different about him. That’s how his music feels-it’s different.

The title track “That Was Then, This is Now”, is one catchy tune. Ever since I heard this song on the radio a couple weeks ago, it’s been stuck in my head. It’s a song talking about our lives before we found God and after we found Him. Before finding God, he says we made friends with the dark and think we’ve gone too far to be made new again. But that’s not true, we’re never too far to be made new in His name. We’ve been lost, but now we’re found.

It’s a time to our past on the past and live in the moment now “Blown Away” is a cute song. It asks us why have we gotten so caught up in life, why are we so serious all the time. We need to take a step back and take a breath, look around us and see what miracles are in front of us right now. Life is about those unexpected moments. Those moments where you know it was only God who did it. Life today is all about trying to fit in and trying to fit in with the cool crowd. Life is too short to worry about that type of stuff. We need to learn to be happy with ourselves and learn to slow down and look at the big and small miracles in our life.

“Don’t Let Go” is one of those deep songs that’s makes you think. All of us has had those moments or days in our lives where we question ourselves and our faith. Where we fall into this pit of self-doubt, where we think God has left us. But good news, he hasn’t and he never will. He won’t let go of you, ever. We all have those series of nights where we can’t fall asleep smoothly. Hundreds of thoughts are going through your head. Sometimes, its not the answers we need. It’s Gods sweet presence that we need the most. Life is hard, we all know that. We all wish we had faith like we did as a child. But as we grow older, we all still have that child like faith inside us. It’s deep down inside, but it’s still there. We can’t it through this life all on our own. God is holding on to us and he won’t ever let go.

Overall, this album is a good one. There isn’t a bad song on here. Josh is easy with his songwriting and has a song or album for everyone. He has slowly become one of my favorite artists, and I think he’s won a bit of my heart with this album as well. If you are having a bad day, trying to find the answers to your life, or just need an upbeat tune to get you through the day – then That Was Then, This Is Now is for you. I highly recommend it!
