I am so pleased to announce that contemporary Christian music artist Leanna Crawford has a new album, Still Waters, releasing today – July 19th. To borrow a phrase from the past, I am “tickled pink” about it. I have been catching some of the songs around on social media, and they have quickly captured my heart. I sincerely hope you will agree. Here are some of the songs that particularly snagged my attention.

STILL WATERS feels like breathing life into a deflated heart and soul. It’s a time to refocus, to go back to basics and rest there, to renew our understanding of where we find our hope, joy, and peace. JESUS! And we can use scripture to encourage ourselves daily! This one really focuses on Psalm 23, and I am here for it.

I KNOW A PLACE feels like the beat of hopeful assurance. “Are you torn down, faded? Heavy used and wasted? Are you travelin’ down a road tryna find your way back home? Do you need new vision? Your burdens lifted? Are you ready for a change? I know a place!” I won’t give away all of the other lyrics, but let me tell you, I recognize those not so fun places, and it was such a blessing to be reminded of the ONE who knows the answer to all things, knows where I am in all seasons, and who I am and still is my safe place.

MAKE IT THROUGH is a “You can do it; keep going” kind of song!

HONEST really suits my emotions, thoughts, and feelings in this season of life. Hard things are all around me. Life is hard and weighty, but I am clinging to Jesus. Even with all of the insecurities, weariness, and hopelessness, we can and we must praise Jesus because it leads to faith, dependence on Him, and trust. He will never leave or forsake us. He remains faithful and good in all seasons.

REST is that reminder that when you “can’t keep up or when you feel like you cannot slow down” after all of the discouragements, battling, weariness, stress, etc… Find your rest in His Presence. I am here in this place. I also desire rest and refreshing.

Listening to this Still Waters album feels like a moment I had just recently. After a long, hard season of life, I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I was having trouble decompressing from the stresses of the school year; overwhelmed with the needs of being a caregiver. I could feel my body rebelling against the heaviness and the grief of hard life situations and failures. I couldn’t hum anymore! I noticed that just the other day, and it startled me because I have been humming from the moment I realized I could as a toddler. I knew that I needed Jesus’s touch, urgently. As I talked to Jesus, floating and waiting, all the yucky things seemed to seep out, and my tears mixed with the water splashing around me. And that is where I found myself being able to wade through the muck to see and hear and know truth again. It is all found in Jesus, but the dirt and grime of daily living stuck strong to my soul, until that moment.

Still Waters is like that moment of peaceful release and refreshing. It offers the truths of how hard life can be, while offering hope, affirmations and a reminder that I am not alone. I am so honored to have the opportunity to review this album. It truly blessed my heart. I hope it blesses yours as well. Please do let us know what you think of it! You are seen, heard, wanted, and known! Jesus loves you so very much. (I just had to remind you, once again.)
