Tori Harper is a Christian singer/songwriter on The Fuel Music based out of Nashville, TN. Harper is releasing her brand new EP, Selah, on April 24th. Growing up in Nashville, Harper saw a lot of musicians come to the city, trying to “make it”. As quoted from her website, Harper says, “I have had to let the Lord define what “making it” means.” Harper is an artist redefining what the term “christian artist” has been interpreted as for so long. Harper’s songs remind us that we are not alone and that we have a God who loves us with an unending love.

Harper’s understanding of God and hunger to share God’s truth with the world is full of maturity and rarity. “The Wreck” features moving vocals with a beautiful melody and soft, yet uplifting instrumentals. “Even with the questions, we can trust God. He isn’t afraid of our questions. ‘The Wreck’ is about trusting that God knows best, and that He is with us. This is the simple truth. We don’t need all the answers, just to know that He hasn’t left and your life is still in His hands” stated Harper.

“Resurrect” is melodic and peaceful with soothing vocals. “There is an emptiness inside that we try to fill with anything that we can think of, but that space was created for God to fill. Sometimes we climb so deep into that hole that we can feel like we’ll never make it out again. I felt like I was so deep in despair that I was dead on the inside, but God is a resurrection God! If I can believe in all these other amazing miracles He did, then surely I can find the faith to believe that He can bring me back to life as well. The closer I get to God, the more loved and secure I feel”, is how Harper describes the meaning of this incredibly powerful and honest song.

“Hiding Place” is the definition of a true worship song that should exist more in the realm of Christian music. The vocals are clear and the lyrics are true. “God is a safe place, a refuge. When all is falling apart, we can rest in Him! ‘Hiding Place’ is about what it means to rest in God fully surrendered, and allow His healing to take place. It is simple, but essential.” What a beautiful message brought to us by a phenomenal young artist.

“Closer Than” has the feel of a grown-up lullaby to our incredible Father. “I will trust when I don’t know what the plan is” are lyrics that strike deep into my heart, and this track is probably my personal favorite on the EP. “‘Closer Than’ is about complete surrender to God. It is about understanding that even when it feels like there’s no one you can turn to, God surpasses anyone you would’ve turned to in the first place” describes Harper.

Overall, Selah, is an EP that shares the truth and grace of our Lord in a way that is rarely heard today. Tori Harper has an understanding of God and faith that is truly remarkable. Selah will be available April 24th, wherever music is sold and available to stream.
