The Country Faith series has highlighted inspirational country & southern gospel music over the years with their compilation albums. The latest release, Country Faith Bluegrass, brings together some of the best in the genre and several mainstream country artists on this collection of beloved hymns as well as new originals.
The album opens with “All Prayed Up”, sung by Vince Gill, celebrating a solid faith in a relationship with Jesus and a firm belief in where you will spend eternity.
Dolly Parton is joined by Larry Cordle, Carl Jackson, Jerry Salley & Bradley Walker on the classic, “In the Sweet by and By”. Dolly’s trademark vocals lend a beautiful tone to this arrangement. A lively rendition of another well-loved hymn, “Shall We Gather At The River”, follows performed by Bluegrass Hall of Fame members Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver.
“My Future Ain’t What It Used to Be”, by Marty Raybon & Jerry Salley tells of a brand new life and bright outlook as a child of God. While we don’t know exactly what our future on earth will hold, we can trust that the Lord has us in His hands.
Dale Ann Bradley along with The Isaacs bring tight harmonies with their version of “Working On A Building” which encourages us to live a life built on a solid foundation of faith as we shine God’s light and love to those around us.
“River Of Forgiveness” is an acapella track by The SteelDrivers. With powerful vocals they express gratitude for the merciful forgiveness we have in our Savior.
“Walk With Me”, by The Voice finalist Caeland Garner and Balsam Ridge, is a prayer for our Lord to remain close and illuminate the paths we should take in life. With our Heavenly Father by our side we’ll never have to navigate the ups and downs of life alone.
Charlie Daniels, Mac Wiseman & The Whites close the album with the upbeat “Walking in Jerusalem (Just Like John)” – a spiritual number that has been counted as a favorite by many over the years.
The common thread throughout Country Faith Bluegrass is an undeniable connection to God and the hope we have in trusting His promises for our future – both here on earth and eternally. Personally, I love hearing all of the instruments featured in bluegrass music and the talent of the musicians playing them. The musical arrangements & message carried throughout the songs come together to make an enjoyable listening experience. Country Faith Bluegrass is available on most streaming platforms now and physical copies will be released to Cracker Barrel stores across the country on October 4th.
