In an era saturated with cookie-cutter hooks and predictable trends, few artists carry the staying power, grit, and genuine heart of Devin Williams.

The Nashville native has spent the better part of the last 20+ years writing, recording, and touring the country. Operating primarily as an independent powerhouse in the CCM scene, Devin has carved out a loyal following the old-fashioned way: relentless work ethic, unmatched passion, and a sound anchored in unapologetic, heavy-hitting rock and roll.

While his latest EP, Conquer the World, originally dropped on May 9, 2025, it somehow slipped under our radar at the time. However, with the recent July 13, 2026 release of the radio edit for, “Be Glorified”—and me having this entire project spinning frequently in heavy playlist rotation over the last couple of months—I was compelled to go back and finally give this record the proper review it deserves. As the saying goes, better late than never! Arriving at a moment when society desperately needs grounded truth and real encouragement, this collection of songs hits with visceral weight.

Conquer the World Track by Track

“Conquer the World”

The title track storms out of the gate with an adrenaline-fueled reminder that no matter what chaos life throws our way, Jesus has already overcome it (John 16:33). Right from the opening verse, a lyric hits straight to the core: “Weapons are forming, but they’ll never make it to me”—a bold, electric declaration echoing Isaiah 54:17. It sets an urgent, victorious tone that refuses to let up.

“Curses”

Released as a single earlier in the year, “Curses” channels prime 90s Pacific Northwest grunge. Think the crunchy, atmospheric weight of Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Nirvana, backed by a driving modern production. Lyrically, it serves as a rock-solid anchor in Deuteronomy 31:8: God will never leave nor forsake us. The track confronts past mistakes head-on, reminding us that through Christ, the chains and generational weight holding us back can be completely shattered.

“See You Smile”

Shifting into a deeply warm and uplifting groove, “See You Smile” can be heard through two equally moving lenses: the heart of a loving Savior who desires joy and abundant life for His children, or the embrace of someone who truly loves you and wants nothing but the best for your journey. It’s an infectious breath of fresh air in the tracklist.

“Social Disease”

This track pulls no punches, dismantling the digital facade and cultural lies that relentlessly attack our self-worth. The enemy is a liar, thief, and deceiver, and his influence across modern culture has never felt more glaring. Rooted in biblical discernment, “Social Disease” is a sonic wake-up call urging believers to stay vigilant, grounded in God’s Word, and unswayed by worldly approval.

“Be Glorified”

It’s no secret that modern “radio worship” can occasionally feel monotonous—often leaning on recycled chord progressions and safe clichés. “Be Glorified” flips the script entirely. Personally, this is my absolute favorite track from the entire project, and hands down, in my opinion, one of the greatest worship rock tracks of the last decade plus.

It’s a full-throttle, grunge-tinged anthem offering a raw, humble plea inspired by 2 Thessalonians 1:12—praying that the name of Jesus is magnified in all we do. Featuring blistering guitars, a visceral sonic edge, and an earnest vocal performance, this track is an absolute tour de force that redefines what hard-hitting rock worship can and should be.

“Walkthrough”

The EP closes out on a profoundly personal, contemplative note. Many of us see our journey with Christ as a corridor of doors: some open wide, some urge discernment, and others seem permanently locked. After walking through the heartbreaking loss of my first wife in 2021, there were days it felt as though every door had been slammed shut. Yet through constant prayer and reliance on the Lord, the promise of Revelation 3:8 took on deep, life-altering resonance: when God opens a door, no man can shut it. “Walkthrough” captures that exact surrender and gratitude, leaving the listener with a lasting sense of peace and hope.

The Verdict & What’s Next

From front to back, Conquer the World is a masterclass in independent Christian rock. Devin Williams proves that heavy guitars, raw honesty, and uncompromising faith belong in the exact same room. The instrumentation is razor-sharp, the production hits hard, and the message speaks directly to a weary world.
